Well, I know my department isn't hiring. We've been pretty steady-state with six people (counting supervisors) for several years now. Though if you've got any graphics experience I can always check next store t osee if they need anybody. Do you have any specific questions you'd like me to answer?
I was more curious how it works in a large organization. I do our directory, the data part. We send out info, then we get it back, make the db changes, and follow up if need be.
I'm curious how it works when it's the only thing the department does.
That's the way we used to do it. Nowadays the process has been automated to a certain degree. We solicit our hotesl to update their information, inspect the entries and make style corrections where needed, and then mod information for hotels that didn't bother to send anything in.
The hard part nowadays is updating the little locator maps for each hotel, which are created by a professional cartography company for us.
