Meh-morial Day
May. 29th, 2007 10:45 amMemorial Day weekend was a bit of a bust. I failed my Grilling roll on Saturday and didn't have enough coals to cook the burgers, so I ended up doing them on the George. Saturday and Sunday we did get a bit accomplished though in cleaning out the basement, emptying some storage bins we'd piled up and taking stuff over to the Goodwill and putting aside outher items for the dumpster. I also assembled a nice bookcase I got from Target so we have a few more shelves to place our paperbacks (mostly my paperbacks).
Monday we went over to my mom's place, which was a bit awkward. I wish she'd just move in with Robin or Rae. She's so damned lonely, living by herself in that sterile retirement community, it's enough to make me cry. Having Daisy helps her a bit, but Daisy isn't a human being. I wish I could get over there more often just to spend time with her, but bringing Thomas is always problematic, since we can't really let him wander around unsupervised in any house but our own, so we're always chasing after him.
