Went to see David Macaulay, author/artist of "Cathedral", "City" and a half-dozen other cool books about architecture I read when I was a youngin'. They opened an exhibit of some of his work at the National Building Museum in DC and I saw him speak there and got a few of his books signed by him. He was quite personable when he was speaking, which he did as he was doing an example of perspective sketching.

The Museum is in the old Pension Office, so the central atrium is a lovely example of terra-cotta in the neo-classical style. Watching him draw it was a real treat. As soon as I upgrade my computer's operating system (ie: get a non-pirated version of Windows) I'll post some pics I took.

The only down point from a modern artistic perspective is that he was somewhat adamant about avoiding using computers to draw, feeling they get in the way of the natural flow of sketching a drawing. Ah, well. He has been at it for over thirty years, so he's entitled to his opinions. :)
