Summary: In the final big-screen excursion of the Space Battleship Yamato, an old leader thought dead returns to lead the ship on its final vaoyage, as the brave crew attempts to stop the water planet Aquarius from flooding the Earth.

Review: Imagine it's 1979 and you're in the theater to watch ST: TMP, another movie based on a much beloved TV series, for the very first time. Remember the first reveal of the refitted Enterprise, and how seemed to be fifteen freaking minutes of beauty passes over the model, with occasional cuts to Kirk and Scotty staring in awe?

Imagine a film that two and one half frigging hours of that!

Any animated film that can make two galaxies slamming together seem dull has achieved something remarkable. Not something I'd ever want to watch again, but it is remarkable.

Hopefully the gun-fu in Equilibrium will make up for this snore fest when it arrives from NetFlix.

You think watching two galaxies collide in a movie is dull.

You should try watching it live.

Man I love Equilibrium. Haven't seen it in forever, though. Just as long as you don't go in expecting anything original, I'm sure you'll have fun with Equilibrium.

Will given that it seems to be Brave New World meets 1984 meets Farenheit 451 meets The Matrix, I'll just settle for a gun battle every ten minutes in between Christian Bale looking stone faced. Given Roger Ebert described it as having "More rounds fired than any film I can remember, and I've seen The Transporter," I don't think I'll be seriously dissapointed.

That seems to pretty much nail it, except for some extra contemporary references. Although in addition to the gunfights there are other kind fun moments that are quite enjoyable if you don't take them too seriously.

What killed me is that it was a complete suprise to the civilization that it destroyed. Don't you just hate it when things like that sneak up on you?
