Freaking Quick Review: Final Yamato
Jul. 29th, 2007 07:58 pmSummary: In the final big-screen excursion of the Space Battleship Yamato, an old leader thought dead returns to lead the ship on its final vaoyage, as the brave crew attempts to stop the water planet Aquarius from flooding the Earth.
Review: Imagine it's 1979 and you're in the theater to watch ST: TMP, another movie based on a much beloved TV series, for the very first time. Remember the first reveal of the refitted Enterprise, and how seemed to be fifteen freaking minutes of beauty passes over the model, with occasional cuts to Kirk and Scotty staring in awe?
Imagine a film that two and one half frigging hours of that!
Any animated film that can make two galaxies slamming together seem dull has achieved something remarkable. Not something I'd ever want to watch again, but it is remarkable.
Hopefully the gun-fu in Equilibrium will make up for this snore fest when it arrives from NetFlix.
