So my niece Allison got married on Thursday. The ceremony was a touch odd, not just because it was on the front lawn of the county courthouse, but that the only attendees aside from Allison and her husband was my sister Robin. Mike, understandalby enough, opted to stay at home. You see, Allison's husband, while he was bunking at my sister's place, stole some checks from Mike and wrote some that bounced. Unsuprisingly, Mike wasn't exactly enthusiastic about this love match, and frankly, niether am I. The fact that's he's recovering (for highly suspect degrees of "recovering") drug addict just adds to the fun. It doesn't help that Allison is as well, so his co-dependant company is not what she needs right now.

sigh As the saying goes, hope for the best, but I'm preparing for the worst. :(

FWIW, one of my sisters-in-law is currently married to a guy she met in rehab lo, these many years ago. They're both clean and sober, and happily married. So, they can work out. I hope it does in your niece's case!

yeahhhh, my mom told me about this yesterday, and I was a little surprised. I can't say anything though, since I never met the guy... but still. It seems a quite a bit shady.

This is the Allison I remember from y'all's wedding? Hmmmmm... don't blame you for not sounding "exactly enthusiastic about this love match." Bummer. Well, I shall keep a good thought for all and sundry, that the outcome may be more positive than things appear at the moment.
