jeriendhalHad to write this up because I found a nifty way to bring Rolas and Red closer together.
Rolas captured, meets Red
Tour of his new quarters.
Verbal sparring when she visits his quarters. She hasn’t seen another Vulpine in months.
The Bad News hits. Rolas tells her the tale of his sister and Viscount Bastard. Red puts two and two together and realizes she’s been had by Bastard’s dad.
Crisis. Attack by another pirate (Mavra Chan?), or a GSA patroller.
Lady Melika to the rescue! Rolas is ransomed.
Comes home to the family crisis. Starts romancing with the lovely Lady Mel, out of gratitude for her actions.
Mumble, mumble something happens, Rolas and Mel start engineering Bastard’s dad’s downfall.
Maybe some better resolution for Sister. She deserves a nicer fate.
The Kiss. Lightbulb turns on for Rolas.
Rolas covers for Lady Mel/Red, diverting suspicion away from her. IT ends in a marriage (don’t they always?)

But I meant, who is he (background, occupation, etc.)?
How did he end up with that name?
How did she end up marrying one with a name like that...?

He got the name because he ended up beating her. NOTE: Domestic violence is one of those things that just does not happen in Vulpine culture, according to Peta. When it does it's treated as a case of criminal insanity and the culprit is locked away in a psychiatric hospital.
It came as a complete surprise to Rolas' family, who thought his sister had gotten a good match, marrying the son of the Count they were sworn too.
Needless to say, things have gotten a bit tense between the Darktail family and their Count in the past year or so...
