badasher I know you told me there was freeware out there to properly format text for being printed as a novel, do you think you or someone else could give me specific links. Because I've completely forgotten the names you gave me.
Bluntly, I've got an itch to reformat Grace of God completely, because the formatting errors I'm seeing the current printed version are driving me mad.
I have only played around a bit with it so far but it looks to be pretty blasted useful -- and at least relatively comparable to the software used in CHI's studio.
Be sure to get all the elements -- like ghostscript which allows you to work with EPS format files in case you get some really high res vector art to work with.
I just found a whole series of free software that is available...including:
Gimp -- a photo/image editor (think Adobe Photoshop) Inkscape -- an SVG (scalable vector graphics) program similiar to Adobe Illustrator
Turns out that there are a few companies using this things along with OpenOffice to do their layout and design work. Tres Cool
I may be diving into the desktop publishing thing..heh..just to see what I might be able to come up with. Could be useful in working with my studio if only to understand what they do better.
