Summary: It's Nicholas Cage as Maverick Preston, a hot shot F-14 Apache pilot going after dirty communists "South American" drug cartels during the Reagan Bush Senior era, in a movie made with the complete cooperation of the US Navy Army.
Or as the Hollywood pitch probably went, "It's Top Gun, except with helicopters insead of fighter planes, and without the homoerotic volleyball game."
THRILL to see Cage pilot his Apache in front of a variety of unrealistic rear-projection screens.
See ROMANCE as he sexually harasses his ex-girlfriend, now a Kiowa scout pilot.
Be CONFUSED as the continent of South America is referred to repeatedly as if it was single nation, and Cage faces a drug cartel with more air power than Lithuania.
On the plus side, if you ignore the plot, it is a nice movie for just the sheer amount of Apache flight porn. And it has Tommy Lee Jones as Cage's mentor, cracking wise, which is always a good thing.
