I had strep throat once a month for about a year when I was in middle school. It sucked. I was also hospitalized once when I was under 3 for a bladder infection. That sucked too, but I don't remember it as clearly.
Ciguatera Neurotoxin. Lets just say, I did not get the mild dose that goes away after a few weeks. And all those symptoms for the serious cases? I HAD 'EM ALL FOR MONTHS.
Chicken Pox @ 2 months. Between the ages of 1 and 3, ate paint thinner, ate rubbing alcohol, an entire box of Chocolate ExLax, etc. The formative years...chronic ear infections, 2 cases of sun poisoning (blisters & all), sprained wrist, sprained ankles, infected sinuses. College...MONO, hepatitus, more sprained appendages, more sinus infections. Post Partum...discharged from the hospital with a blood pressure of 170/126 (slurring words, blacking out). Three more ER visits within the week for the same thing.
Thank you Jesus, in 10 years I've only been to the ER 4 times with Alyssa (all ear infections) and 3 times with Allan (kidney stones, broken wrist & elevated blood pressure)
As much as it stinks to be the patient, but to have to sit and wait and worry REALLY sucks canal water. I keep you all in my thoughts & prayers.
Childhood ailments: chicken pox and multiple bouts of strep throat and ear infections (to the point where doctors look into my ears and say, wow, that's a lot of scar tissue -- what happened to you?!?").
My only ER trip was for my gall bladder doing a heart attack imitation on my 48th birthday. A very good imitation, BTW. That sucker hurt.
I've never been an overnight patient in a hospital, though. I've had two outpatient surgeries, the first was shoulder surgery at 46 years old, the second the aforementioned gall bladder.
