William Shatner back in his Rescue 911 days had to tape a little addendum to his show for broadcasts in Australia, reminding viewers there that their local emergency number was 000. In England it's 999, and in Europe it's 120. Which hasn't stopped the necessity of operators in those countries from routinely having to transfer 911 calls to the correct emergency number, because the American one is so widespread in the media.

Also, the trashy romance [livejournal.com profile] moonshadowed was reading today was entitled, "The French Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress". I can't decide if it's an extreme case of Exactly What it Says on the Tin or the writer just forgot to remove the title from the outline he was handed by Harlequin's editors.

So. Don't tell me. It was either a Silhouette Desire or a Harlequin Presents, both of which have devolved towards ridiculous titles in that particular vein. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, there are no outlines except ones the author writes herself [g].

I think it was a Harlequin Presents actually. So yeah. :)

According to [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0:

"The French Tycoon is a new one. Usually it's 'The Greek Tycoon' or 'The Sheik's'."

If one was sufficiently disturbed, one might wonder if the Greek Tycoon was a fan of "Greek Love" and then how would it be a pregnant mistress...

Yes. I know. I need help.

Separate, unrelated note: Are y'all coming to the gaming convention in your own backyard this year?

At least it wasn't "The Bloody Murder of the Foul Prince Romero and His Enormous Bosomed Wife."

Ah, well, and there I thought Europe's emergency number was 112... see wikipedia

Of course, my dear. The French don't read trashy romances, they live trashy romances. Yay!
