From the German action-adventure TV series Alarm fur Cobra 11, which is a bit like an autobahn flavored version of CHiPs.

Why couldn't my German teacher have shown stuff like this for the media portion of our course? The most fun we had watching anything was a screening of Das Boot.

Because when you and I were in high school, my aged compatriot, VCRs were hideously expensive and most schools were lucky to own one -- and the chances of getting actual German television were slim. Certainly most cop cars didn't have cameras!

Well, as far as I know the series is newer than that (I think it is 10 yrs max when they started it) and still ongoing (I would have to check that out but I think it still is running)

EDIT: Ok, it started 1996 and is still running (at the moment season 26 is airing) check it out at Wikipedia

Well, because then this series did not exist yet...

...but others would have been available like Raumpatrouille Orion... (I think you were referring to German movies)

...or he could have just showed any movie with German sync...

Well, das Boot certainly is a good movie =)

The really dumb thing was, he showed us the English dub. I guess he got tired of complaining about how depressing the other films he showed were.
