So driving home, I was listening to my brake pad make the same rumblerumbleneedneedanewpad sound it had been making for a week or so. I had intended to get it changed last weekend, but obviously didn't get the opportunity. This evening however, the grind turned into a grindBANG as it suddenly shattered and fell off. Bad enough, but it clipped the brake line on the way out and I leaked fluid all the way home.

So tomorrow, I have to take the day ofF AGAIN. Which I can't do because I don't have any sick leave left, given the pitiful rate it accumulates now (going by temp agency logic I only get sick five days a year, and it all gets reset January 1st.) And it's probably going to be expensive, so I'm going to end up borrowing from the Bank of Mom, which I hate doing. She's openly offered to help us, but it doesn't make me feel any less like a damned mooch.

Oof! I had one start making a grinding sound while driving. At first intermittent, and then suddenly steady and loud enough I gave up, pulled over, and called AAA for a tow.
