Home is where the heart (and parents) is
May. 17th, 2004 12:43 pmSo I stopped at my parent's house for lunch, just as they were returning from looking at a house at Leisure World. They've pretty much decided to get it, which means leaving the house they've owned for forty years.
I'm going to miss their house terribly. It's where I grew up, and theres no place I've ever lived in that I've felt more comfortable. OTOH I'm glad they've decided to move. The new place is only one story, which means Dad won't have to try and negotiate the short flights of stairs in their split-level anymore. Since he's grown so frail my heart has really been in my throat seeing him trying to get around the house and not risk a catastrophic fall. This is better for them, and the condo fees will be about half what they had to pay before to keep the old place in order.
But I'm still going to miss it.
