Winter Cleaning

Got the impulse to clean out the kids' toybox Saturday, in anticipation of Christmas. Along the way I took care of all the videotapes under the entertainment center, given we don't have a VCR currently and aren't likely to get one soon.

The total? One kitchen garbage bag full of toys to be tossed, and five bags of videotapes (currently occupiying the back of my minivan while I wait for a chance to get to the dump). Gods only know what I'm going to do once we get a Blu-Ray player.

Hey, at least DVDs still work in Blu-Ray players, right?

And, you could also take everything to goodwill and get a tax write-off. Some people are still antiquated and have working vcr's (aka, me).

Well 75% of them are shows I taped off the TV, so it's not really worth picking through them.

Cleaned the closet yesterday and in the process found our cookie press (the kind with the tube and twist plunger). Heh, yeah, old pop tart box just screams 'I'm a cookie press' doesn't it? I'd always assumed something else was in it.

So, first batch of spiral sugar cookies got made yesterday. Yum.

Well most of it is junk, half-broken toys with missing pieces and loose Duplo blocks, but I'm sure I can pick out at least a couple of pieces that someone might want.
