Fricking WoW has suspended our house account because it's supposedly been used for gold farming. At a time when we were both at work.

Fucking terrific.

Make sure its a Real Email Thingit - there have been a bunch of Pfishing scams sending out official looking Emails and if you log into the tags in the email they are then really eating your info and account.

Sorry to hear this, but what is "gold farming"?

Short Version: Cheap overseas labor (the stereotype is a Chinese sweatshop) run repetitive quests to win in-game gold, which they sell to players too lazy to earn the gold themselves.

What happened to us is more sinister. Basically our account was hacked and all the stuff that Tracy had access to in her guild was stolen and sold off. So now we have to convince Blizzard to give us our account back so we can reset the password and hopefully recover all of her items.

Most of the people I've known that this has happened to have come out just fine, apart from losing access to the account for a while. Blizzard is generally pretty good about restoring stuff at this point.

That's freakin' painful. My sympathies. Blizzard is usually pretty good about refunding all of your lost items in a case of theft though it can take some time.

Do you have an authenticator. It's not 100% foolproof but it does give you some added protection.

We're looking into getting one now that the account has been restored. Have to look online to buy one.

Speaking to Wayne last night apparently there has only ever been one hacked authenticator account and that was because the guy had the number stolen off the back of the little number generator. We've had authenticators since they first came out and never a problem with them. Except for our mate Ang when she comes across and friday nights and forgets to bring hers so that she has to ring home and co-ordinate a log in with her hubby on the phone.
