Friday Pointless Poll: Badass Ambassadors

It's just not enough to carry a big stick. You've got to learn to speak softly too. So who do you think is best equipped to get their point of view across to their opponent?

Note One: Yes, I know some of these people aren't officially ambassadors, but many of their duties involve getting their point across without violence.

Note Two: Please bear in mind Captain Sheridan is not allowed to use a nuke in his arguments. Three times was enough.

Of course, I'd propose Marc C. DuQuesne as ambassador.

I don't recall Sarek ever actually displaying keen ambassadorial skills. He was nearly killed in Journey to Babel, and the issue at hand was resolved before the vote even happened (and thus didn't need to be shown) by Kirk and company foiling the attempt to kill the ambassadors, and identifying the culprits. In Star Trek IV, it was Kirk and company bringing back a pair of whales and saving the Earth that mitigated their sentences, not any testimony from Sarek.

Delenn, on the other hand, was frequently shown exercising her talents effectively.

Not qualified to vote, since the only characters I know well enough to judge on such things are Miles and Cordelia, but I think Miles deserves to win -- the man is a born negotiator.

I finally favored Retief over Miles as Miles has power and a position and influence while Retief generally had to make all of his peace settlements a fait accompli so that his own government couldn't give the store away.
