I personally have never owned a gaming console. I've never believed in having a machine dedicated to games any more than I've ever wanted a dedicated word processor (Remember those things? Glorified typewriters that remembered a line at a time and allowed you to fix typos before the entire line was typed to paper and you moved on to the next one!) – I always prefered having a computer, which was capable of all of those tasks and more. Almost thirty years ago, when others had Atari 2600s, I got my first computer (a TI-99/4A) and a few games… and created dozens more in BASIC (my versions of established games like Pac Man and Space Invaders, and also original games). Since then I've owned several Apples (starting with an Apple ][+ in 1984 and ending with a Mac something-or-other about a decade ago) and countless PCs. I've bought, borrowed, stolen, or created the games I've played on them.

I have, however, purchased a few for Q; and although I live with 'em, I rarely even touch 'em. She has a PS2, PS3, PSP, and Wii; all but the last of which were purchased by me. (I've also bought a couple of childrens' game units for Richard, but they're not on your list.)

(I still have an Apple IIgs and hundreds of floppy disks in a closet. They may or may not still work.)

I got a cheap IIgs in the late 90s, shortly before I boxed up my Apple stuff. I've never really done IIgs stuff with it; all of my software was for the previous models.

Just the Atari 2600 and the PS2. Never really got into console gaming. (And to be honest, I don't like modern controllers. Far too many buttons. *grin*)

(And to be honest, I don't like modern controllers. Far too many buttons. *grin*)

I have that problem on the rare occasions when I pick up one of the controllers for one of my wife's systems. Even worse is trying to play DVDs or blu-rays on the PS3 using the controller (the standard options like play and pause are easy enough to find, but on many of my DVDs require me to change the audio track and/or turn on subtitles or use other less common features. I bought the remote control for the PS3 (and had previously bought the one for the PS2) so that I didn't have to mess with which fire button was "next chapter" and could play movies the way God intended.

I think we had an Atari once. It had Asteroids.

Poor Dreamcast. You'll never be "Other" to me. Well, except for the purposes of filling out this poll.

A PS3 is the only console I've owned.

TI994a. Oh yeah, baby. Totally a gaming console (I think it might have actually been a computer?) My grandparents bought it for their grandchildren (and because my grandpa had to own the latest and greatest computers...) and that damn thing still works. And I was so much better at those games when I was four than I am now.

You forgot commodore64!

My console ownership goes along the lines of:
Pong
Some sort of shooting game with a plastic gun you'd point at a White square on the tv
Atari 2400 (all the switches and controllers broke)
Atari 2600 (all the switches and controllers also broke) skipped the 2800 and 7800. We couldn't afford a C64.
PS1 (almost exclusively for Gran Turismo)
xbox (hacked to run XBox Media Centre)
Xbox360
Wii

We have a Wii, and the stepson had a SEGA and a Gameboy in the late 90s while he still lived with us. I've used the Wii about half a dozen times, unless you don't count the times I used the neighbor's instead, then once.
