For [livejournal.com profile] dan_ad_nauseam's prompt of "The Doctor in Glassforge."

Romana took in a long breath. "Well, this is certainly... fragrant."

"Draft animals generally do provide atmosphere," the Doctor said, as they strolled along the busy, brick paved street. "Though as such places go it's remarkably clean."

"Clean? This?"

"Comparatively speaking, yes. Someone cleans up after them you see. Someone cares. It fits, and yet it doesn't."

"What do you mean?"

"Well you saw the TARDIS's sensor readings. This planet is littered with creatures that feed exclusively on electron and proton particles, disassembling atoms to increase itself. By all rights this world should be a barren wasteland, devoid of life." He waved his arm, taking in the tall brick buildings. "Yet they're surviving, thriving, even though there's no defense against such creatures."

"So how are they?"

The Doctor grinned. "Let's find out, shall we?"

You know, considering all the places and times the Doctor has been to, he's missed out on a lot of good ones [g].

Presumably all the dull, happy, relaxing planets are visited in between episodes.
