Warbird & The West Wing
Sep. 16th, 2011 09:16 pmOkay, so three episodes into The West Wing I can safely say their Secret Military Space Shuttle story has absolutely no resemblance to my Secret Military Space Shuttle story.
Unfortunately I'm now hooked on The West Wing, after having previously given up on episodic television. Which is more than a little annoying since the DVD release doesn't bother with English closed captioning, which is a problem given Georgia's motormouth and my dislike for cranking the volume up. And I'm starting at the end.

I've never seen that show, apart from the parts of one episode that featured Penn & Teller. One of my friends had a bumper sticker on her car a decade ago with the caption "My President is Martin Sheen." That amused me because the only time I've ever seen Martin Sheen play the POTUS was in The Dead Zone, where he was going to bring about World War III.

That's why I watched a lot of anime back when Richard was a baby and we still lived in the apartment – because all of those DVDs have English subtitles, unlike most of my other DVDs (they are getting better about that, though) and I could watch them with the sound off.

Date: 2011-09-19 01:50 am (UTC)My first episode showed the president's motorcade being attacked by an assassin. It was utterly riveting -- and it was the first season finale, and I had to WAIT to see how it was resolved.
It is a fantastically written, very talky show, and there's ACRES of nuance, so I can't imagine trying to watch it with your darling little chatterbox clamoring for Daddy time....
