I'm not giving up the story, mind you. Warbird is coming along nicely in the plot department, but I'm giving up on the idea of trying to hit 50k words by the end of the month. I'm just too tired and distracted to try and keep up with the required daily word goal, and when I only got less than five hundred words in yesterday it made me feel sick to my stomach.

That's wrong. This is supposed be a challenge yes, but it's also supposed to be a fun challenge, and right now it isn't fun. So I'm stopping here and giving myself a break. I will finish the story, but I'm not going to bend myself into a knot meeting an artificial deadline.

I'm sorry for all the people who were rooting for me and who are probably disappointed now, but from the way I feel my stomach unknoting even as I write this, I know it was the right thing to do.

Sounds sensible. Wahtever works to get a story done. :)

It's the book that matters. NaNo is a good community, but it's the book that matters.

You'll probably end up with a better book this way.

Well, what kind of use is a writing/participating in NaNo if it is not fun? It is the right thing to do if you do not have fun doing it anymore. I fully understand and support you here: if it is no fun, stop doing it :)

...and who knows you might even finish NaNo regardless of giving up :) now that that stress of word-count is out of the way...

Have fun doing it - I certainly look forward to reading it :D
