Lilith smiled over her strawberry daiquiri and said, "You know, I do believe up until now, you were the only living Archangel I'd never made a Deal with."

"Times, and circumstances, change," Christopher replied, looking uncomfortable. The youngest of the Archangels may have been wearing an adult Vessel, but that couldn't stop his childish nature from coming out. What other celestial besides Haagenti would have suggested a meeting at a Friendly's? He took a sip from his milkshake and said, "I Need something from you."

"I hardly thought it was a social call. How can I be of service?"

"I need a… not exactly a Distinction, nor a Song, but I Need it, and you are the only discreet source whom I think could acquire it for me." He started tapping his foot nervously, and took a quick scan around the dining room. Expecting Dominique to show up and haul him off to tribunal?

"Oh, little Christopher wants to get his first demonic Resonance," she purred. "All grown up now I see."

"I do not want anything demonic!" Christopher snarled. "It's angelic."

She raised a questioning eyebrow. "Then why ask me? You get along with everyone up there. Surely your fellow Archangels would be willing to give you a hand."

He shook his head, and told her what he wanted. She was far too experienced to express her surprise.

"I don't think I care for this Deal," she said. "It's hard to yank a Hook, when the Celestial who was hanging off it just had his Forces ripped apart."

"I won't get caught," he said far too quickly.

"You think you won't." She took another sip of her daiquiri. "Why would you ever want it? I ask only out of idle curiosity."

Christopher sighed. "Some of the most critical portions of my Word, I only know through theory, not experience. If I am to serve my charges to the best of my ability, I must understand every aspect, or potential aspect, of their lives in the most intimate of detail."

"I respect your… dedication," she breathed. Lilith held out her hand. "Done."

"Done." The littlest Archangel shook it, and the heavy cuff materialized on his wrist.

When she passed the thirteen year-old girl panhandling on the street the next winter, her face dirty, the worn pullover barely covering her gravid belly, Lilith tossed her a ten-spot.

Very cool, I like this a lot.

[[reading though back logs of the INML, got the link that way]]

I also like the "Kid napped Chris" story line, but haven't commented on one of those yet for some unknown reason.
