Supertrain: This was a real series
Jan. 23rd, 2012 06:34 amI think they must have been snorting a lot of coke at NBC studios when they green lighted this one in the 70's. "It's like the Love Boat, except on a big train that will require huge expensive sets and models!"
And co-created by Donald Westlake?
About the only thing I remember about it is an ad in the back of Model Railroader magazine one month, selling the original studio model. I wonder who bought it?

Date: 2012-01-25 01:41 am (UTC)It wasn't so much that we all wanted to watch this drek in the 70's. We had CBS, NBC, and ABC for the mains; like today, they served up a couple of gems and a whole lot of crap.
Locals 5, 9 and 11 were the ones for the news, baseball and Carol & Paula in the Magic Garden (there are no locks on the story box).
PBS 13 & 21 were mostly news programs until 1968. Then they ran a loop during the day of Sesame Street, Electric Company and Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood, followed by the news at 5 and Monty Python. Locals and PBS all were off air by 11:30.
If you babysat late at night and were talented at tuning the set, you could get channel 61 out of Connecticut and watch Dr. Who and a whole slew of B-Movies (Green Slime, Seventh Planet from the Sun, The Day the Earth Stood Still....)Good Stuff!!!
