Since Firefox was published 35 years ago and the Clint Eastwood adaptation is almost as old [1] I'm sure an update/homage wouldn't be unreasonable.

The major change is that, now that the Soviet Union is kaputski, the action would move over to China, and instead of a PTSD suffering Vietnam War vet as the protagonist it would be a ex USAF female Chinese American [2], who was adopted from China when she was ten years old or so (and therefore retains full native accent Mandarin language skills). Most of the tension of the in the first part of the novel would be a Will She/Won't She tug of was as the protagonist is torn between ditching the mission or going through with it, since the latter would mean she'd never be able to return to China again.

Tech wise, the old Firefox stealth MacGuffin is a bit passe (and a Mach 5 capable interceptor is just silly). Speed would be a more reasonable-with-current-tech Mach 3 (improving on the old MiG-25 Foxbat's capabilities), but it would still retain the thought controlled weapons and rear defense pod. Not sure if I'd want to go with active camouflage though. That's been seriously overdone in the movies.

[1] Age, I show it.

[2] Possibly the same one from Warbird if I can fiddle with her background a little.

Your sad reliance on thirty year old technology will not save you, Imperialist Pig.

So, is it time for a (hopefully good) Airwolf remake yet?

...

...

Oh dear, I just pictured an Airwolf movie with all the quality and fidelity to source of the other 80s TV show to 2000s movies. Cringe! Forget that I ever suggested it.

Bite your tongue, man!

Okay, it might be worth it for a CGI Airwolf. Maybe.

If you got a good director and good producer and good writer, and more importantly all three were in it to do it justice rather than just churn out a quick movie to toss into a summer action adventure slot. Maybe.

But oh man the cringes would be painful if it wasn't done well.

Hmm. Thought. It *is* the Airwolf from the show. But someone can make a comparison to the B-52s. Some comment on how the airframe was made so well that by upgrading the electronics and engines its still awesome, and post upgrade is possibly further ahead of the competition than it was in the 90s.

The Airwolf was basically the creation of one impossibly bright, impossibly psychotic man. You can use the Lone Genius card to excuse anything about it, AND explain why it hasn't been used since. Charles Henry Moffett died -- very deservedly -- before the weapons of his own creation, and no one was ever able to duplicate what he did; The Airwolf itself was too useful operating to be disassembled for what might, or might not, reveal its secrets.

I want to know if Airwolf would make a decent browser.
