There's probably a very interesting essay to be written comparing fantasy/sci-fi BDSM as depicted in John Norman's Gor novels, Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel series and M.C.A. Hogarth's Kherishdar stories, but as that would involve me voluntarily reading the Gor novels, I leave it to someone else.

Look on the bright side - there was a Seventh-era Doctor Who comic that featured a thinly disguised Gor series - and a sociopath granted the ability to make his own reality and stock it with any women he could drug.

Yeeeeeeech....

I'm reading a sporking of the first Gor novel on rpg.net, and I keep wanting to write a crossover with Cordelia Vorkosigan & Sons (backed up by a platoon of champion fencers and karate experts borrowed from ImpMil and ImpSec) paying a visit and engaging in some Social Engineering With Extreme Prejudice.

Actually, it was a really well done storyline, and gorgeously drawn - but a terribly dark tale. UNIT soldiers get eaten by a Bible at one point, IIRC
