Weighty Resolutions
Oct. 18th, 2004 01:27 pmWent in for a chest x-ray on Friday (nothing serious, the doctor just wanted to make sure my sinus infection wasn't developing into pneumonia). Anyway, I took my shirt as instructed, and got the first good view of my profile in the mirror for several months.
Evaluation: It's disgusting.
I'm 5'10" and about 185 pounds. Or rather, I was 185 pounds the last time I weighed myself, a couple of months back. I'm afraid to check now. When I bought new pants for my father's funeral, they were alarmingly tight, and I'm afraid looking at myself in the mirror just confirms it. If I'm going to feel good abotu myself and maintain my health, I'm going to have to lose weight. Prefereably I'd like to bring myself down to 150 pounds, but I'll settle for 160 if I can manage it.
Anyway, I've started using the stationary recumbent bike that's been gathering dust down in the basement, have switched to diet soda (I hate 'em, but Diet Cherry Coke seems the least nausea inducing) and Tracy and I are going to hit Weight Watchers together on Sunday. We'll see how it goes from there.
