So I went to see my mom today and do some handy man work around her house and run errands for her. Going out to my car to drive to the grocery store with her list, I look down at my car and see someone tried to drill out the lock. Most likely they saw the holder for my GPS map toy and tried to get at it (which wouldn't have done them any good since I usually keep it in my coat pocket when I leave the car.)
Now I know it couldn't have been anyone in her neighborhood, as she lives at Seizure Leisure World, where there is a real shortage of young punks to attempt this. Of course there may be a few octogenarian supervillians there, but I haven't looked. Most likely it occured last night, since it was fine when I went home from work yesterday. I may not even have noticed it for a while since I usually use my remote to open the door.
I was talking to our next door neighbor, Cindy about it, and she mentioned that one of our neighbors got mugged around 9pm last Thursday when he was getting out of his car, so it looks like we've got a mini crime wave going on.
The most annoying part about this is? I took my car in Friday to the dealer get a minor repair done on it. If the inconsiderate bastards had just tried to break in my car before they mugged my neighbor (not that I would wished that on him at all), it would have saved me a trip. As it is, it's less annoying than it could be since I've got a service agreement for the car, so in the end I'm only out $50.
