"Mrs. Patel, could you please explain again how this is a crime?" Detective Blakely asked the middle-aged Indian woman patiently.
"My husband was struck in the back with a dart! That's not assault?"
"Yes, but I don’t follow the other accusation, given he's alive and unharmed."
"Unharmed? He was poisoned by an alchemist's drug!"
"Am I to understand you wanted your husband to remain a weretiger?"
"He wasn't a weretiger, he was a Rakshasa. He had pride! How can he look our children in the eye now, if he's only human?"
Blakely groaned inwardly. Hate crimes were always the worst.
