jeriendhal: (Grumpy)
Got to work. Intestines were acting iffy already in a way I won't elaborate on. Around 1pm starting shivering and feeling nauseous, so I went home at 1:30 after everyone got back from lunch. Came home, figured out I have a slight fever, choked down some Pepto Bismol and went to nap for an hour or so.

I'm really hating this flu season.

Health: My fever disappeared and my sore throat was gone within 24 hours of starting my antibiotics. I'm still dog tired from fighting the infection though and don't have much reserve energy. Plus the, er, drawback of taking heavy antibiotics is making itself known. Yech.

Mental State: Been really down recently, a combination of being sick, not having the energy to properly deal with the kids, and worrying about money since I had to have that emergency brake repair. This was compounded Saturday when I went over to Mom's to pick up the check, and she reminded me it was the fifth anniversary that day of Dad passing away I had completely forgotten about it, and felt like a right heel when she pointed it out.

Car: Runs properly now, which is much better than risking being a road statistic, which would really suck.

Writing: plodding along. Need to start thinking about how to integrate the random scenelets I've written with alt-Rufus and Hazel into the current narrative.

Turns out that I didn't have the flu. Nope, I've got tonsillitis. Had chicken pox, German measles, appendicitis, but I managed to avoid this until now. Unfortunately I don't get a quick hospital stay and unlimited ice cream, so I have to settle for gargling Lidocain (NASTY!) and swallowing massive amounts of penicillin derivative.

Health: Not so great. Georgia had a semi-nasty stomach virus that made her tummy ache and gave moderate diarreah. Today she's fine, but it was Daddy's turn to catch it. Basically I can't even handle toast and flat sprite at the moment. Joy.

Update: Aaaaaaand I've got a fever too. As of 9:15 I have successfully consumed 4oz of animal crackers, and a glass of cool water. We'll see if they stay where they're supposed to.
