Lt. Gordon looked over the not-exactly young uniformed officer standing at attention across from his desk in the Major Crimes Unit. Thirty was a bit old for a newly minted police officer, but then this officer was anything but average.

“Officer Wayne, you may have won your court case, and you may have gotten top marks at the police academy, but you’ve still got a lot to prove,” Gordon began. “Now do you mind telling me why a billionaire would put all of his money into a blind trust for the chance to walk a beat?”

"What If Bruce Wayne Decided to become a Police Officer"?

I suppose he'd either make the best cop on the force, or be very shortly busted for police brutality, depending on how well he'd worked out certain issues before joining the force.

But one had better hope that the Joker and his other rogues' gallery doesn't show up. Policeman Bruce Wayne isn't going to be nearly the match for tem that the Goddam Batman is.

Note: This is Wayne still with all the overseas martial arts training. He is going to be missing a lot of his "Wonderful toys" admittedly.

And eventually Gordon is really going to get on his case for refusing to draw his sidearm.

If he actually is a police officer, why WOULDN'T he draw his sidearm? As Batman he's used frickin' MISSILES.

As a police officer, he is fully authorized to use firearms in appropriate situations; this is not the case for him as a vigilante, which is in fact the major reason he doesn't use them, and doesn't kill; he KNOWS he is outside the law and must hold himself to a particular standard for his own conscience. This doesn't necessarily apply as a real officer of the law.

On the other hand...

"Wayne, dammit, why didn't you just draw your sidearm and have him get down on the ground?! That's basic procedure!"

"Commissioner, I judged that he was more likely to pull out one of those trick weapons of his, and that other officers would be in more danger. I made the judgment call that my superior training, size, and speed would allow me to completely neutralize his threat much more quickly and with less chance of injury to any bystanders."

"Wayne, you broke his arm!"

"It'll heal. I understand Gotham General has excellent doctors. And it kept him from throwing that whatever-it-was that the lab has now."

"Just ONCE could you consider just arresting them like everyone else?"

"You wound me, Commissioner. On three separate occasions last week I drew my weapon in support of my partner, Officer Grayson."

"Grayson! He's another one..."
