jeriendhal: (Romance!)
[personal profile] jeriendhal
Despite the oh so horrified reactions of some people, I find the idea of two female characters in their mid to early twenties looking deeply into each other's eyes while holding hands (romantic music rising naturally) considerably less squicky than Aang and Katara sharing a deep and romantic kiss at the end of the original Last Airbender series. Because the former was between two adults, and the latter was between a girl and a boy who were just fourteen and barely thirteen.

I wonder if Mr. Wright noticed THAT little aspect of TLA.

I think that would imply a level of awareness that Wright sorely lacks. Nevermind that decidedly non-Christian theology of the series as a whole.

I never heard of Wright before people mentioning him in these sorts of context, unlike Orson Scott Card who I knew well from actual SF contexts.

Ohhhh! Oh, so that's what all the kerfuffle was about? Not being more than very passingly familiar with TLA, I didn't understand why that parting romance was causing so much discussion. Not, I admit, to say that I now understand the problem, but at least I'm aware of what some are considering to be one.

I wonder when we'll see Disney openly offer up a coupling that isn't M/F.. (discounting, as I suppose we must, for now, Timon and Pumbaa =:)

Hrm. Well they've been cross-dressing characters since at least their Robin Hood feature at least. ;p I'm sure a same sex relationship can't be too far behind in today's environment.

Porsupah, one of my favorite nonhuman characters!

*giggle* That's me! Admittedly, there've been one or two.. changes along the way, but it's been one hell of a ride. =:D
