(no subject)
Sep. 26th, 2005 03:47 pmUpon further thought, I probably should explain what prompted the request for this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jeriendhal/186238.html) in the first place. It's just a little scenelet I had running through my brain that made me laugh.
Maria just beat the shirt, er, pants off Tez in a video game.
Maria: Booyah! I win! (starts dancing) Who's the champion? Oh, yeah! Who's the champion?
Tez: Congratulations (gets up to leave.)
Maria: Oh, no you don't. Ya gotta put the shirt on!
Tez: I don't want to.
Maria: Uh, uh. We made a bet and I pwned you. So you gotta put it on!
Tez: I thought you liked to look at my chest unobscured.
Maria: For this, I'll make an exception. (tosses it at him) Put it on!
Tez: You know, in many cultures modesty in victory is considered a virtue.
Maria: You're just mad because I pwned you at something. Who's got the l33t skilz now?
Tez (grumbling): You pwn-- I mean own me already. I don't understand why I have to advertise it. (puts shirt on) See if I ever play Katamari Damacy with you again..

A year ago today...
Sep. 26th, 2005 03:50 pmI lost my dad. (link: http://www.livejournal.com/users/jeriendhal/2004/09/26/)
It's strange. I don't exactly feel sad right now. Just... neutral. I would give anything to have him back, to be able to talk to him, as two adults talk. A skill I hadn't learned really until very late in his life. But I wouldn't want him to have suffered another year like he had the two previous years before he died. That I would not wish on anyone. Practically the last words he said to Mom were "I'm tired", and we all knew he was. He'd lived a long, good life. Losing him was ending, a sad ending, but not an overwhelming one.
Not like when Tracy lost her dad, who got cut down by an infection at 53, when we'd thought he'd beaten cancer. She still hasn't beaten back the gloom from that, even though it's been over four years now.
