Read a DA journal entry by skifi, a Spanish artist who is excited about getting his hotel room for Otakon, the first con he's ever attended. I congratulate him, and inquire whether he'd registered yet, since Otakon had to make a "No Walk-ins" rule after the con reached the BCC's Fire Safety limits. He hadn't, and then said he was getting on the ball to pre-register right now. :)

I couldn't imagine travelling all the way from Europe just to find out you can't get into the con you wanted to attend!

Edit: Actually, the more I think about it, the more that sounds like the plot of a comedy film. Two guys travel across the country/ocean to attend the enourmous Not-Otakon-No-Really, only to find out their pre-registration got lost, or wasn't sent in the first place. The film follows their increasingly farcical attempts to sneak in, only to be thwarted at every turn by their jack-booted nemesis in NONR Security, who spends the film chucking them out and anyone else who looks at him crossways or dares to violate NONR's fascist regrettably strict rules. Events converge as the more responsible of the pair hooks up with his proto-girlfriend, and they kiss on the stage during the Special Musical Appearance by whatever AsiaPop band is currently hot.

Hollywood, here I come!

In a conventional Hollywood narrative, there's no way. OTOH this probably would be small enough to qualify as an independent film anyway. :)

Some Like it Hot Just saying... The comedic possibilities of the less responsible guy hooking up with a gay guy would be totally Hollywood comedy. As long as consumation is never shown, only implied when it would be funny.

Good point. Especially if the less responsible one had elements of over-compensating machoness/jock qualities (but not so much that he loses the audience's sympathy.)

Yes, that way you get to kiss your wife during the film. And you don't have to be responsible, just more responsible than me. Step over the bar already, it's only like six inches off the ground.

Act 1: Scene 1: Our Heroes Set Out
By 8am we were already speeding eastward on the interstate surrounded by fields of corn and whatnot. Our rusted vehicle was fully loaded with all the supplies needed for 3 days of fun at the anime convention in Baltimore. There was a case of ramen, ten and a half liters of vodka, 3 liters scotch, 12 gallons of mixers, three cases of beer, a dozen odd bottles of sake, and two bottle of Champaign along with various other less important sundries like costumes, clothes, toothpaste, deodorant, ropes, and flashlights.
