Star Trek: Pimp my Starship (with apologies to FFN)

So the first photo of the new Enterprise is here. (click on the rest of the gallery to see pics of the cast in their uniforms and a glimpse of the bridge)

First impression: Yech. While the intent was obviously an amalgam of the TOS and the movie series Enterprise, the result looks like that was done with notes from the producer to "Add some bits to it!" The saucer section looks nice (it's hard to screw that up) but the nacelles are ugly as sin and the secondary hull just looks wierd trying to support their odd mass.

The rest of the photos are not particularly encouraging. The cast looks all right, but TOS Era But Not uniforms are a bit jarring and the bridge looks like a rejected design for the one from Galaxy Quest. If I wanted to look at plexiglass circuit panels I'd turn Stargate: Atlantis on.

Thinking about it, the Troi minidress *might* have been a skort, as I know Roddenberry had insisted that some of the men be seen wearing skorts, which made it look like they were wear minidresses. That stopped after the first couple of episodes beyond the pilot as it was concluded they just looked rather silly.

And then the production office got in a lather about Teh Gay....
