But seriously? The medium should fit the story. Prince of Egypt could not have been 3-d (either with stop motion or with digital). Ratatouille probably would have been less visually important in 2-d. Clone Wars, the movie, is going to suck because it is in 3-d when it should be 2-d, because the characters are stylized for 2-d animation in a way that translates poorly to a 3-d medium. Coraline works wonderfully because it is in clay stop motion, as does Wallace and Grommit, and your eyes can see the hand prints on the characters, even if you don't realize it.
Also, digital 3-d will almost always be dated in about 5 years. Toy story still works, because it deals with toys. Finding Nemo? Not so much with the working anymore. And yet, 2-d animation does not date itself, whether or not it drawn on the computer, paper, or, as is often the case now, both.
