Mar. 5th, 2009 06:52 pmSo yesterday whilst surfing the net I managed to hit the wrong site and get a nasty piece of adware on my computer that literally popped up every 30 seconds to "help" me by removing (irony of ironys) viruses and malware.
Cue much cursing as my freebie copy Spyware Doctor did no good. Cue more cursing when I upgraded to the registered version and found that I can't download the updates. But that does not matter, because I did manage to find the .exe file for the little bastard and delete it, after
moonshadowed figured out how to boot the computer into Safe Mode. Win for us, even more when I can get the virus protection working again.

Date: 2009-03-06 05:32 am (UTC)Suggestion: try Kaspersky (free for 30 days and then something like $59). I LOVED spy-bot but even spy-bot doesn't catch this sucker......Kaspersky is the only one that updates nearly every day and it is KILLER. No problems since getting it and believe me, I was catching stuff nearly every day prior to that (cause I hit so many sites).
