Ended up watching a documentary on the National Geographic channel about a high security prison in Australia. About halfway through I realized that one of [livejournal.com profile] chaypeta's relatives (an architect who designs prisons) probably had a hand in putting it together.

I wonder if he helped put together the BBQ the native Australians use for cooking kangaroo tails...

They cook kangaroo tail on the BBQ in prisons? The aboriginies cook them on an open ground fire.

Kangaroo steaks slow cooked on the BBQ or baked is delicious tho lol.

Well I called it a BBQ. It was really an open pit lined with concrete. I can't imagine the prison would let them have a free bonfire. :)

Eating kangaroo is on my list of things to do if I ever get down that way.

I cook it reguarly. It has a very strong flavour (and smells really bad when raw lol) but when cooked I haven't had anything like it (though I am told moose and buffalo are similar).

Has to be cooked slowly and never past medium rare though, or you can plate armored cars with it.
