squid314 is unimpressed by the History Channel's so called "World War 2" television series.

Let's start with the bad guys. Battalions of stormtroopers dressed in all black, check. Secret police, check. Determination to brutally kill everyone who doesn't look like them, check. Leader with a tiny villain mustache and a tendency to go into apopleptic rage when he doesn't get his way, check. All this from a country that was ordinary, believable, and dare I say it sometimes even sympathetic in previous seasons.

The sad thing is that the previous series was even worse. (Just a lotta redshirts standing around in ditches most of the time).

The point of that post went completely over my head, right until I read the first comment. On the upside, I got it then.

On the downside, some of the other comments are giving me headaches.

Ok, the one guy who commented "Wait, the Russians were allied with the Germans first?" made my head hurt a little too.

E, being a German who didn't get the joke, the replies that picked on the other German who didn't get the joke were kinda meh.

The whole "let's pretend it never really happened" thing also just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if it's meant as a joke.
