Other villainous death: having all his carefully-crafted plans suddenly go off either sliiiightly too early or sliiightly too late, meaning they implode on him and he's caught in the resulting confusion. Hoist by his own petard!
1. Sorry. It's a silly One Hundred Years Later fanfic set in the universe of chaypeta's Terinu. The latter being a darned fine YA space opera (if unfortunately on hold while she deals with Real Life). Knowledge of the comic isn't strictly necessary, though it helps understanding some of the character interactions.
2. I really need to learn to drop that option. It's James' schtick honestly. I shouldn't steal it.

For both hero and villain you left out "Die? Real heroes/villains never die."
