Most of Monday morning was taken up by escorting [livejournal.com profile] moonshadowed to the clinic to have her stomach looked at. After a diagnosis of Gastritis and swallowing what the doctor called a "GI Cocktail" she was feeling Much Better Thank You, though she was still pretty wrung out after a bad night's sleep. Since that had killed the morning and after lunch she was feeling tired, we skipped our plans to walk around Colonial Williamsburg.

Instead I drove with Georgia over to Norfolk to check out Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin. Both were much improved since the last time I'd visited with my dad about eight years ago. Nauticus had dumped some of the cheesier exhibits for better aquariums and more displays concerning the big hunk of iron parked at the dock next door.

The Wisconsin was also more accessible. Last time I was there it was sealed up completely, as it was still kept in reserve just in case the US really needed a battleship again. I don't know if they gave up on that idea, but at least now they have the officer's wardroom and a few of the officers' quarters opened up for visitors to walk around in.

Today we hit either Colonial Williamsburg finally, or Busch Gardens. Probably the latter if only because it's likely to be the most upsetting sensory wise for Thomas and it might be best to get it out of the way first.

Summary: In this James Triptree Reader's Choice award winning novel, Thenet, an Eperu (neuter) of the tri-sexed Jokka, finds himself cast out the House where he has lived and served most of his life, and finds himself entering a desperate partnership with Dlane, an Anadi (female) on the run from her fate as a mother, an act that inevitably ends with Minddeath, as an Anadi's overstrained body destroys their intelligence.

Together they manage to find stability, and a measure of happiness, even as Thenet struggles to redefine himself after losing everything, and Dlane leads him on a quest to find the legendary Birthwell, where their race originated.

So Unexpected Diversions still doesn't have a proper reader review yet, but it has gained a few tags on Amazon. Among them "Romance", "Erotic Romance", "Erotic", "Erotica" and "Sex" (seeing a pattern yet?) Strangely it's also tagged with "paranormal" and "vampires", neither of which exactly fit. I view Paranormal as more related to modern novels and Vampire doesn't fit at all (Tez is immortal and also immoral, but at least he doesn't suck the Blood of the Living). But the most popular tag is "Eve Langelis" who seems to write equally tacky stuff. :)

Meanwhile, Captive of the Red Vixen gets hit with the single tag "Chastity". Which seems grossly unfair to Rolas since that's one of the few things Melika doesn't inflict on him.

Like [livejournal.com profile] filkertom said, the remix is okay, but the video makes it brilliant.
